When will I know if my child has been accepted?

At MEI Secondary, there will be an assessment and an interview process before any applicants will be accepted. This process may take up to two months. Please note that students will be assessed and interviewed according to the categories above.

What are the next steps once my child is accepted?

We will send you a formal letter of acceptance by mail. We will then communicate with you as necessary to ensure that you have all the information that you need prior to the start of the school year. If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our office.

What happens if I submit my application after the deadline?

We strongly encourage you to apply during the application week. Due to the number of applications we receive and the limited number of spots available, any applications received after this time may not be processed before the end of the school year. Late applicants may inquire about the status of their application in early June.

My child wasn’t accepted this year.  When can I re-apply?

Students who are not accepted for this current school year are welcome to apply for next year’s intake the following January.

Do you have a waitlist?

No. MEI Secondary does not have a waitlist.

Is the application fee refundable?

If your child is accepted to MEI and you choose to not take the spot, the deposit is non-refundable. If your child is not accepted into MEI, your deposit will be returned. (If deposit was paid by cheque, no money will be returned as the cheque will not be processed and will be shredded).

Do we have to go to church or be a Christian to attend MEI Secondary?

No. MEI has an open enrollment policy which means you do not have to attend church or be a Christian to attend our school. We do, however, make it very clear that we are a Christian school in all we do and a Christian worldview and Biblical truths will be incorporated into all areas of the curriculum. All students will be expected to participate in chapels, Bible classes, and devotional times in class. We respect each student’s ability to make their own personal choice regarding whether or not to follow Jesus however we want to be clear that they will be taught what it means to follow Jesus and encouraged to follow Him on a regular basis.

Do you have school uniforms?

No. MEI Secondary has a dress code that students are expected to follow, but we do not require students to wear uniforms. However, all students are required to wear MEI PE strips during their PE classes.

What kind of extra-curricular activities do you offer?

MEI Secondary offers opportunities to get involved in athletics, fine arts, applied skills, and service learning. Please refer to the programs tab on the main page of the website.

Does MEI offer bus service?

Yes. MEI offers bus services from a number of different locations but not typically door to door service. Please check our website for further information on bussing. Please note that our bussing services are often at capacity with waiting lists so we recommend investigating this as early as possible if you are considering bussing for your child.

Do you offer ESL or ELL services?

No. MEI Secondary does not provide services for English language learners except for fully paying International students. We do have students for whom English is not their first language but these students will already have enough English that they are capable of engaging in all learning activities within the classroom.
