Outdoor Education

Elementary > Student Life > Outdoor Education

At MEI Elementary we value giving our students an opportunity to experience the outdoors in an educational experience. As part of our PE curriculum, students in Grades 2-5 participate in different outdoor activities. In the Spring our grade 2 students take part in a hike at Cultus Lake. In the winter months, students in grades 3 and 4 participate in a snowshoe base trek with their class at Hemlock Resort. Our grade 5 students have two “Outdoor Pursuit” days where they have a choice between two alpine snowshoe treks at Hemlock Resort or ski/snowboard lessons at Whistler Blackcomb. We also organize an extracurricular ski and snowboard club on 5 Fridays afterschool at Hemlock Resort. The most exciting part about our outdoor education program in that it introduces students to activities and skills that many are trying for the first time.
