68 Grads and their significant others met on Friday in reserved space at the Phoenix Lounge. JJ Sidhu acted as emcee for a quick game of “Guess Who”, some draws and a bit of reminiscing, and largely the evening was an unstructured time of catching up.

Class of 1995 20 Year Reunion Group | Saturday Family BBQ at MEI

On Saturday, 37 adults and 43 children met at MEI Elementary for a family BBQ. The kids enjoyed free reign of the playground, gym time (including the use of a bouncy castle!), and even an impromptu visit by some local firefighters who took a few moments to allow the kids inside the fire truck. A nostalgic tour of the Secondary and an exploratory tour of the Middle schools were also a part of the day’s festivities. It was especially meaningful to be together as families, and to have the opportunity to really see who we are becoming within that context. » More photos of BBQ event

The group’s goals were both to have a memorable and successful event, and to achieve a surplus of funds, which could then be donated to Heart to Heart for Haiti school and orphanage, with whom MEI has an ongoing relationship. We thoroughly enjoyed being together as a group, and as a service outcome of our reunion, we consider it an honour to be able to help fund H2H’s efforts to provide education, nutritious meals and access to health services for children living in poverty in Haiti.
