Middle School

Secretary
Part-time continuing position – 3 days a week

MEI Middle School requires a part-time School Secretary to serve as part of a three member office team that provides secretarial assistance to ensure the efficient and friendly operation of the school office. Responsibilities will be built around the successful candidate’s skill-set and could include maintaining student demographic and attendance records on our school management system; coordinating course selection, scheduling and student timetables; overseeing report cards and attendance; compiling data for reports; coordinating special events at the school; graphic design and the publication of material; creating PowerPoint presentations for events; in addition to general office and reception responsibilities. The successful candidate will be efficient, enjoy working with families and will have strong computer skills.

The successful candidate will:

  • Accurate keyboarding of 50 to 60 wpm
  • Strong understanding and experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite (MSWord, Excel, and Outlook, PowerPoint, Sway)
  • Database Management
  • Experience with MyEd BC or another School Management System (SMS) would be an asset

This is a 10-month position that follows the MEI School Calendar, with interruptions of work during Christmas, Spring Break and summer holidays. Summer holidays extend from the second week of July to the third week of August.

Educational Assistants- Full-time positions

These positions are full time positions that begin in September of 2017. The qualified EAs will be working within two different programs. Most of our students are integrated into the regular classes and require varying degrees of support either inside the classroom, in a Learning Support Room or both.

The successful candidates will be certified Educational Assistants. It would be beneficial to have experience working with teenagers and having some knowledge of the curriculum. Some training in the area of Autism would also be helpful for at least one of the positions.
