MEI Secondary School

“The teachers at MEI really want to see me do well and they try to help me in any way possible. This gives me a sense of accountability and the desire to strive for excellence.”

My name is Andrew and I recently graduated from MEI Secondary. I have been at MEI since Kindergarten. What I like most about school is connecting with people and being with friends.

One significant event that changed my life was in Grade 7 when I was tripped by another student and my front tooth was knocked up into my gums. There was lots of serious damage done to my mouth. I’ve had surgery, root canals, orthodontic work and lots of pain as a result of that incident. The response of my friends and the teachers and staff at MEI was amazing. First they were shocked and then they were very concerned and showed lots of love and care. I still get asked how my tooth is doing. The lesson that I learned was that life is unpredictable – you never know what a day will bring. You have to be ready to deal with whatever comes your way. With God’s help, I was able to forgive that student.

MEI has something for everyone. I love the performing arts. The school offers so many opportunities in this area. I have been part of drama productions, speech competitions and choirs.

The teachers at MEI really want to see me do well and they try to help me in any way possible. This gives me a sense of accountability and the desire to strive for excellence.

MEI has prepared me for life and forever by teaching me healthy work habits and good organization skills. I have learned as a member of Student Council that you can’t always please everyone you are serving. This is a valuable life lesson. Something that MEI has enforced in me is that God is always with us and that we should seek him in everything we do, not just the big decisions. This will shape and influence me as I look ahead to what He has in store for me. At this point, I am considering the idea of becoming a teacher. If that works out, I would love to pass on the same values to my students that my teachers have passed on to me. MEI has given me confidence, great experiences, and the desire to grow in my love for Christ.
