Congratulations to Anita Bathe (MEI Class of 2006), who has been named co-host of CBC Vancouver News (6 p.m.) program with Mike Killeen.

Anita Bathe will co-host the 6 p.m. news slot with Mike Killeen, starting Monday, Nov. 19, as well as work as a front-line investigative reporter.

CBC made the announcement today (Monday), saying the move was “the launch of a new host team” who will report across a variety of media channels from radio to online.

Bathe was raised in Abbotsford on a blueberry and raspberry farm.

A CBC press release describes her as “a passionate journalist known for chasing breaking news and giving citizens a voice.”

The release says she has taken a lead role in covering stories such as the B.C. wildfires in 2017 and ’18, Const. John Davidson’s shooting death last year, and the 2017 B.C. provincial elections.

Her journalism career spans more than 10 years, including in broadcast radio covering local news in areas such as Prince George, Squamish, Victoria, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

Bathe is a multiple winner of awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association and the B.C. Association of Broadcasters, as well as a recipient of the Jack Webster Fellowship in 2015.

She is a graduate of the B.C. Institute of Technology, and was a reporter for News 1130 before joining CBC in 2016.

Bathe says she hugely values the farming industry in the Fraser Valley and its importance in B.C.

She has travelled to more than 20 countries and loves to read, cook and spent time with friends and family.

Bathe joins Killeen, a veteran broadcaster whose career spans more than than three decades; senior meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe; Dan Burritt at 11 p.m.; and Lien Yeung on the weekends.
