Join us for the MEI Secondary musical “This Little Light” May 9-11, 2019. Tickets are now available for purchase through school cash online for all three performances! About the Musical Did you know that MEI Secondary has been working over the last 3 months on an brand new musical, written and performed by students? The students have brought stories from their personal lives and chosen songs from hit Musicals such as Wicked, RENT, Mean Girls, Dear Evan Hansen and The Wiz and have made them work in an original musical about their own lives. 20 students from grades 9-12 have been working tirelessly to bring this musical to life and can’t wait to share it with you. As an extra bonus, the MEI Improv Team will be opening the show with the Worship Leadership Team closing us off at the end of the evening. Host with MEI this Summer

Host with MEI this Summer Host students through the MEI International Program. Our nightly rates have increased for summer 2019. July 18-31, Meiji Japanese teenage group. The students will attend classes in the MEI Middle school from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. For hosting two students, families will be paid $1,040. July 19-30, Koku Japanese teenage group. This group will have 140 students! This is a great chance to get your friends involved and carpool! The students will attend classes in the MEI Secondary School from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. For hosting two students, families will be paid $880. July 31-Aug 27, Summer Chinese students, aged 9-12 years old. The students will attend classes in the MEI Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. For hosting two students, families will be paid $1,566. July 31-Nov. 12, 4-month Chinese students, aged 9-11 years old. The students will attend classes in the MEI Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The 9th annual MEI Schools Fundraiser Dinner (on April 13) was a God-honouring evening with great food, visiting, an inspiring and exciting report from Vijay Manuel, and a snapshot presentation of MEI Secondary’s new musical “This Little Light” (performances coming up in May). The evening was filled with excitement and joy as we reflected on what God has done this past year in the lives of our students; “They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season” (Psalm 1:3a). Hugo Friesen passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in the presence of family. A celebration of Hugo’s life and faith will be on Tuesday, March 5 at 1:00 pm at South Abbotsford Church with a reception to follow. He is survived by his wife, Jean Friesen, and their children, Cherie (Dennis) Thiessen, Ken (Lynn Bergsma) Friesen, Becky (Dan) Unger, and Karen (Al) Stobbe. Greatly loved by his grandchildren, Joelle (James) Calloway, Michael (Tara Prystay) Thiessen, Laura (Jacob) Woodard, Amy (Ty) Klassen, Allegra Friesen, Simon Friesen, Rachel Unger, Caleb Unger, Karissa Stobbe, and Natasha Stobbe, as well as 9 great grandchildren. Hugo will also be missed by his brothers and sister, Frank (Dora) Friesen, George (Sara) Friesen, and Carol (John) Hiebert. Visitation will be held at South Abbotsford Church on Monday, March 4 between 7 and 8 pm.
