MEI Class of 1988 30 Year Reunion

MEI Class of 1988 30 Year Reunion

On Saturday night, June 16, the 1988 grads of MEI celebrated their fourth official reunion. The first in 1989, second in 1998, third in 2008 and fourth in 2018. The event welcomed 75 people to a park-like family estate in South Langley, organized by the original student council: Peg Peters (President), Brad Dueck (Sports Rep), Becky Ouellette (Klassen) (Secretary), Bryan MacBurney (Treasurer) and Ryan Dahl (Chapel Rep). {Interact with photos on Facebook} Through all the years of world travel and career building when most people have not seen each other, it seems that for the most part, people don’t change, and friendships don’t change. Just down the lane, Ryan was there to greet them, followed by Peg and Bryan directing them to parking. After the initial token grad photo, the group was all treated to a high class, catered kabob dinner by Jeff Ens from Tastefully yours. The meal was amazing, and set the tone for a high class evening followed with relaxed conversation. People sat around tables and fires, under big white tents or out in the blazing blue sky. Right after dinner, Ryan had prepared a slide show with pictures that alternated between individual...

MEI Class of 1978 40 Year Reunion

MEI Class of 1978 40 Year Reunion

On Saturday, May 26th 40 grads and 10 spouses of the MEI graduating class of 1978 met for a 40th year reunion afternoon and back-yard BBQ dinner at the home of Tanya (Klassen) Thiessen and her husband Howie. The plans were in the works for approximately two months prior to the event and were fairly easy to manage with a committee of 6-7 volunteers. A Facebook group was set up and a digital booklet of current photos and mini-biographies was shared electronically during the time leading up to the reunion. Name tags, and an ice-breaker game were used to help grads of 78 to meet and greet, and catch up with each other on the actual day. Overall, those efforts seemed to pay off as the atmosphere at the reunion was warm and inclusive. One of our beloved teachers John Ratzlaff joined us in the afternoon for a visit and photo op. Next, our student body president Peter Kroeker welcomed the grads and opened with prayer for the get-together and prayer for one of our fellow grads who is suffering with stage-4 cancer. The dinner and party carried on into the later evening. Meaningful re-connections were made and we wondered why we waited so long to plan this reunion?
